Expressão 'TILL THE COWS COME HOME

Antigamente, o gado leiteiro era deixado livre no pasto. Na época da seca, as vacas costumavam ficar no pasto durante muito tempo, sem voltar para a fazenda para serem ordenha-das.

 

Isso deu origem à expressão till the cows come home, ao pé da letra “até que as vacas voltem para casa”, significando um tempo muito longo, indeterminado.

 

Till the cows come home - Por tempo indeterminado; até cansar

You can wait till the cows come home. He won’t do it.
>Você pode esperar até cansar. Ele não vai fazer isso.
