Hello fellas! A student of mine asked me about the expres-sion "to do legwork" and I would like to share this with you as well.
We all know that "leg work" means "jogo de perna" or "trabalho de perna", but in the corporative world, this expression has different meanings.
Legwork, in law enforcement slang, is the work necessary to solve a case. Legwork usually involves interviewing wit-nesses, investigating evidence and following leads.
In detective and mystery fiction, legwork is an important structural component of the plot. It gives the author the opportunity to lay the evidence and clues before the reader in a format that is more interesting than the usual police dossier.
In business, legwork refers to the gathering, review and interpretation of the basic facts, figures and research necessary to achieve a goal.
Very interesting isn't it? So, practice it!
Remember: practice brings perfection!
